I am a member of the Communications Workers of America, and I am joining with my union brothers and sisters to help fight for health care reform that will secure quality affordable health coverage for workers and retirees.
We've bargained hard for our health benefits over many years, but lately we've been forced to take cuts in those benefits and to sacrifice wage increases in order to preserve what we have. We retirees have had our benefits cut and are finding it difficult to preserve coverage. It is an endless spiral of paying more and getting less.
We want health care we can count on. Our system should cover all Americans, control costs, improve health quality, be financed with broad-based taxes and provide a strong role for government to guarantee that all Americans are covered and receive the health care they need.
